Kundapur: Canada Rotary members donate Rs 27 lac to Vandse government school

Kundapur, Oct 7: International Rotary foundation, Canada donated Rs 27 lac to Vandse government model higher primary school for purchase of school vehicle, construction of toilets, smart class, computer and training of teachers. Osava Parkwood Rotary club's Chris Sachdev and Jennis Kopland announced the decision during their visit to the school on Friday, October 5.

Speaking to students, parents and teachers after inspecting different departments in the school, they said that donations are being received by International Rotary from different quarters. The amount is being distributed through local Rotary units for education, health and hygiene. “The current donation is extended for development of the standard of education and basic facilities in the school,” they said.

Sridhar Shetty of Kundapur south Rotary club in his key note address said that Mookambika charitable trust which was founded two years ago after school's centenary, works for the progress of the school. “The strength of students has doubled because of it. International Rotary across country's borders has come to the help of progressive village Vandse,” he said in gratitude.

Rotary donation contact person, Gangolli Rotary's H Ganesh Kamath recollected the contributions of Rotary to various organizations including this school. Mookambika trust secretary Udayakumar Shetty gave details of the support by the trust for school bus, salary to additional teachers and other help.

Gangolli Rotary president Ramanath Nayak, Kundapur south club president Johnson D' Almeida, school development committee president Manjunath Ganiga were present. Chris Sachdev and Jennis Kopland were felicitated on behalf of the school.

School headmistress Mohini bai welcomed. Teacher Pooja proposed vote of thanks. Physical education teacher Raju N compered the programme.
