Bengaluru, Oct 3: Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murthy and Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G Parameshwara, who is holding the Home and Bengaluru Development portfolios, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a Centre for Cyber Crime Investigation Training and Research (CCITR) in the State at a cost
of Rs 22 crore.
The MoU was signed at a function in the conference hall of Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday between Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Karnataka Police and Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and Infosys Foundation.
Speaking at the programme held at Vidhana Soudha conference hall, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Parameshwara said that Infosys has been a constant support by constructing buildings for the Police Department.
By coming forward to build CCITR, the IT giant Infosys has become a role model to other corporate companies, he said.
Dr Parameshwara the assistance from all corners are necessary to strengthen the State Government's efforts to tackle crime.
He said the police department in the state, must be provided with more support in order to encourage them to maintain law and order.
In this regard, houses are being built under the police housing scheme and the work has reached the third phase, he said.
By digitising FIR registration among other things, Police Department is set to go digital, Dr Parameshwara said.
Karnataka Police Department is moving forward to become a role model to entire country, he said.
With changing technology, there is a need to seriously look into various aspects and work in tandem to prevent cyber crimes, the Deputy Chief Minister said.
He asked technical experts to come forward to work in the training centre as technical training is vital to tackle cyber crimes in the state.
He said international experts too will be invited to provide the training.
