Panaji: Casinos operations to shut down for a day on October 2

Panaji, Sep 27: The government has decided to keep all the casinos in the State shut down on October 2 to pay homage and respect to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

“Every year, the government of Goa observes dry day on October 2 in order to pay homage and respect to the Father of the Nation,” State under Secretary (Home) Neetal Amonkar has said in a notification issued on Thursday, September 27.

‘”In this regard, all the casino licensees shall stop the operation of the casinos in the state of Goa on October 2, 2018 from 12 am midnight to 12 am midnight (24 hours) in order to pay homage and respect to the Father of the Nation,” she has said.

Goa has six off shore casinos while there are more than 12 gaming dens in different five star hotels across the state.
