Mangalore, Oct 26: The district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has warned that it would intensify its protest against the central government for neglecting the miserable condition of national highways passing through the district, said K Monappa Bhandary, district president, BJP, at a press conference on Friday October 24.
He also said that party delegations had met the deputy commissioner (DC) recently and demanded immediate repairs to the roads under the public works department (PWD), zilla panchayat (ZP), city corporation, and other urban local bodies (ULB).
The district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar had also asked concerned authorities to repair the roads within 30 days, informed Bhandary.The UPA government is responsible for the pathetic condition of the highways by not giving importance to its maintenance. District Congress leaders have not bothered about the issue and people like Janardhan Poojary and Oscar Fernandes should answer to the public, he added.
Opposition leader Shankar Bhat, district general secretary Srikar Prabhu, and Shivanand Nayak, were present at the press meet.
