Mangaluru, Sep 11: A police team led by Kavoor station police inspector, K R Naik, along with the personnel of the station and witnesses, raided a spot where ganja was reportedly being sold, based on credible information, on September 8. The team succeeded in arresting two accused and confiscating from them 42 kg ganja worth Rs 7.56 lac, auto rickshaw worth Rs 80,000, Yamaha FZ motor bike valued at Rs 40,000, two cellphones worth Rs 2,500 and four luggage bags containing ganja totally worth R 8,78,500.
During the raid, the team succeeded in taking into custody Rajeev A P (48), son of the late Appu Kuttan from Vishnu Bhavan, Post Parkala, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and Abdul Rahim (26), son of the late Hasainar, Kayar Radi House, Urimajalu Bantwal. The third accused, Shaffi, son of Kalandar Shaffi, escaped during the raid.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of city police commissioner, T R Suresh, deputy commissioner of police (crime and traffic), Uma Prashanth, and city north subdivision assistant commissioner of police, Rajendra D S, by Kavoor police inspector, K R Naik and personnel of his station.
