Beltangady, Sep 11: Dharmasthala Dharmadhikri, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, announced that ceremonial bath being offered once in 12 years to the statue of Bhagwan Bahubali at Dharmasthala will this time be held during February next.
This 39-feet high statue which was installed during 1982, was offered ceremonial bath the same year. Thereafter, similar programmes were also held during 1994 and 2007. The fourth programme in this line will be held in February 2019 under the leadership of Digambara Acharya Vardhaman Sagarji Muni Maharaj and Pushpadanta Sagarji Muni Maharaj apart from 15 Digambara Acharyas, he said.
Dr Heggade stated that programmes aimed at general welfare will be undertaken on this occasion under the motto, 'Jio Aur Jeene Do (live and let live)'. He added that the dates of the programme would be decided shortly, and in memory of this occasion, 200 ponds would be desilted and developed with the support of government and people.
