Bengaluru: 'Several Congress leaders set to join BJP' - Yeddyurappa

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 10: "We have not made any efforts to engineer the collapse of the state government. But, there is no doubt that a few Congress leaders will soon join BJP," said former chief minister of Karnataka and state BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa.

Speaking to media persons, he said that his party is gearing itself up for the coming Lok Sabha election and therefore no efforts are being made to topple the coalition government in Karnataka.

He clarified that a delegation from the state led by chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, will be meeting the Prime Minister to seek additional assistance to handle excessive rainfall and drought in the state."As our leaders are preparing to tour the state in preparation for the Lok Sabha election, I will not visit New Delhi. We plan to field strong candidates in constituencies where our candidate was comparatively weak last time. Our target is a minimum of 25 Lok Sabha seats from Karnataka," he explained.

MP, Shobha Karandlaje, said that Yeddyurappa has been in the state politics since the last 40 years. She challenged Shivakumar to hold together his leaders if he has the power to do so. She said blaming BJP for the coalition government being on shaky wicket is not right and that the situation is volatile because of internal bickering within the Congress. She said that Congress leaders are speaking out of frustration, and that they are now trying to place the blame on BJP.
