Mangaluru, Sep 9: A medical clinic and dispensary for the welfare of casual employees, dock workers of the port and their families was formally inaugurated by the chairman of NMPT, M T Krishna Babu, IAS at the port premises September 7.
The facility is being operated jointly with the Indian Red Cross Society, Mangaluru, under the CSR scheme of the port. While inaugurating the function, Krishna Babu said that the port is committed to the wellbeing and health of the region and that the facility would be extended to the local population living in and around the port.
The Red Cross Society would provide a qualified doctor and dispense generic medicines for free to the patients. Elementary medical tests would be conducted at the Port Trust hospital. The clinic would operate for two hours daily (4 PM – 6 PM) on Monday-Friday and in case it is found insufficient, the timings would be extended.
