Banglore, Oct 25: Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) state convener Narahari said that the Sangh Parivar will not block the state government from charging Mahendra Kumar under the Goonda Act, if it has sufficient evidences in its possession to book him under its provisions.
Replying to queries raised by presspersons at a press conference held here on Thursday October 23, he said that the attacks on churches and other Christian prayer centres were spontaneous reactions for the coercive and induced religious conversions indulged in by the Christians. "If there are evidences to prove that Mahendra Kumar had engineered the attacks, we do not object to the use of Goonda Act against him," he stressed.
He also expressed the opinion that there was no need to use the Goonda Act against Mahendra Kumar. To a question as to whether the failure of the policemen in finding reasons for the attacks on churches mirrors the inefficiency and failure of the state home minister, he replied in the negative, saying that such a conclusion cannot be drawn.
"Maoists did not kill Lakshmanananda Swamiji. They did not have any reason to do so. Some gangs of the Christian youth committed this offence and then conspired to shift blame to the Maoists. But the policemen have so far failed to nab the culprits," he said, expressing displeasure.
Convener of RSS Publicity Committee Srikant Joshi said that the policemen were involved with the cases of atrocities during the Kandhamal violence and demanded detailed investigation about their role. "Some voluntary organizations are involved in misdeeds in the name of service. The government should conduct high-level probe into their role," he demanded.
When he was asked for his reaction about the fact that lacs of people are adopting Buddhism of late, he said that no one is forcing or inducing people to join the Buddhism and people are getting converted on their own. But some politicians are issuing statements that are detrimental to nationalism, in the name of secularism, he said and demanded the state and union governments to draft clear-cut policies to handle illegal immigration in Assam, terrorism, religious conversions etc.
