Mumbai, Oct 22: Latesh M Poojary from Nakre in Karkala taluk bagged not only the 'best actor' award but also was adjudged the best in the Bharatiya Vidyabhavan-sponsored 'Cupwood Competitive Moments' contest, for his role in 'Mukti Dham,' at the all college-level drama competition conducted at Mumbai recently.
He recieved the best actor award for the same role, in the 'Munshi Phalak' competition and also won the 'Balraj Sahni' trophy for the best actor, instituted by 'Ippa' ogranization.
In this drama competition, 37 teams participated and six teams qualified for the final round. Prahladh Roy Dalmiya Lions College team was one among them and Latesh acted in 'Mukti Dham' as a member of this troupe.
Latesh is the son of Mohan Poojary, originally from Nakre, who is one of the directors of Bharat Co-operative Bank here. Latesh's mother Chandrika M Poojary is from Kajekar, Bantwal. Latesh Poojary emerged as a child artiste through 'Kala Jagattu,'a famous theatre organization from Mumbai.
He acted in Tulu drama 'Ennaddhavandh' and 'Oriye mage oriye' through 'Kala Jagattu,' and won laurels for his acting prowess in 'Chinnara Bimba' and has once again exhibited his talent now through 'Mukti Dham,' for which he won his third award.
Vijay Kumar Shetty and Surendra Kumar Hegde of 'Kala Jagattu' have congratulated him for his success.
