Mangalore, Oct 20: State home minister Dr V S Acharya has reiterated that the government will soon take steps to set up police commissionerates in Gulbarga, Mangalore and Belgaum.
"The demand for commissionerates at these three places is long-pending. The government has decided in favour of this demand," Acharya added.
The union government has given its nod for the scheme of exchange of information with the centre, towards strengthening the intelligence in the state. Efforts will also be made to set up intelligence cell on Maharashtra model, he explained.
The minister even stated that steps are being taken to appoint 10,000 constables to the state police force.
