Bengaluru, Aug 21: Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations ® (FKCA) Bengaluru conducted a strategy and planning meet at Catholic Club Bengaluru on August 18.
The programme began with the opening prayer by Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, spiritual director of FKCA. Chairman Dr Anand Edward D’Souza welcomed the office bearer, past chairman and all the representatives from the member associations. Dr Anand Edward D’Souza delivered the keynote address. He mentioned to the representatives of member associations that FKCA has a vision and various goals and objectives. Members should contribute to make it a reality. He mentioned that there is need to inculcate Konkani culture among the Konkani speaking families residing in Bengaluru. He reiterated that very few people from the Christian community are opting for political careers and we need to inculcate interest among the youth to take up IAS, IPS,IFS, KAS and government level jobs apart from encouraging our children to take up
judiciary posts. FKCA should help small scale entrepreneurs and provide assistance to those coming from coastal areas to get jobs and to provide them required
accommodation.
Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo was the resource person for the strategy and planning meet. He helped the representatives of FKCA to formulate vision, mission, goal and objectives in order to take FKCA to a different level. Lawrence Saldanha, secretary FKCA the proposed vote of thanks. Konkani Manyata Diwas was also celebrated at Catholic Club Bengaluru which began with an opening prayer by Fr Faustine Lobo. Dr Anand Edward D'Souza welcomed the chief guest Gabriel Vas, Fr Faustine Lobo, past chairman and all the members present. Eminent political journalist Gabriel Vas was felicitated during the programme for his contribution to Konkani language and literature. FKCA recognised his contribution in drafting memorandum for submission to Nuncio for getting permission for Konkani mass in Bengaluru and other places where Konkani mass was not permitted on Sundays. In his speech Gabriel Vas reiterated to all the Konkani parents to encourage their children to read and write Konkani by teaching them to read Konkani newspapers, magazines, literature and Bible readings. He also requested affiliated associations of FKCA to organise learning classes and teach Konkani to the children in their particular areas.
Fr Faustine Lobo was also felicitated for his contribution for organising strategy session for all affiliated association members of FKCA.
