Udupi, Aug 19: St Milagres Credit Souharda Co-operative Ltd celebrated Independence Day by visiting orphanages and old age homes.
Staff of Udupi branch visited Asha Nilaya, rehabilitation centre for mentally challenged. They distributed blanket and sweets to the inmates. Fr Valerian Mendonca, parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, who was present on the occasion said, “It is good to see that St Milagres Credit Souharda Co- operative is contributing a part of its profit to the society. Let this work be a model for others also.” Steevan Colaco, development manager Carlis D’cunha and staff of the branch were present during the function.
Shirva branch members visited Manasa Special School and Maria Nivas Ashram Kalathhur and distributed sweets and blankets to the inmates. Speaking on the occasion, Udupi branch development manager Carlis D’cunha said, “We are doing this as a social service since last 15 years. We under the guidance of our director Geroge Fernandes. We will continue to do this in upcoming years also.” Fr. Denis D’Sa, parish priest of Shirva church and Fr Mahesh D’souza, assistant parish priest of Shirva church were present during the function. They conducted many fun activities for the inmates.
The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with much affection and warmth by staff of St Milagres Credit Souharda Co-operative Ltd Kallianpur and Kaup branch staff. They visited Spandana Centre for specially-abled and Vishwaasada Mane respectively and presented them blankets and sweets as part of Independence Day celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, social worker Leeladhar Shetty said, “I have never seen before any co-operative bank doing such type of social work. This work of St Milagres Credit Souharda Co-operative Ltd is appreciable.” Alban Rodrigues, Kaup branch manager Gopal and staff were present during the function.
Speaking on the occasion at Spandana Kallianpur, Brayan John D’souza, president Rotary club said “I am happy to see a co-operative bank doing these type of things. Rotary is ready to help them in all their social activities.” Subbanna Pai, rotary assistant governor and staff of Kallianpur branch were present.
The programme was held by all the branches of St Milagres Credit Souharda Co-operative Ltd.
