Mangaluru: YCS central council celebrates I-Day meeting ex-servicemen

Mangaluru, Aug 16: On the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day on August 15, the Young Catholic Students (YCS) Mangaluru diocesan central council organised a special programme “We Love India, We salute the Soldiers".

Accordingly, they paid visits of gratefulness to the homes of selected five ex-servicemen of Indian Military and wished them a happy Independence Day and thanked them for their selfless service for the country.

Praveen Kumar Shetty Tokottu, Victor Correa Derebail, Maxim Monteiro Bendur, Ravishankar P Kulur, Oswald D'Souza Derebail were the five ex-military representatives who were visited. Handmade greeting cards and flower pots were presented to them as the token of love and gratefulness and prayers were assured for them and for their families. Their courage and love for the country was also appreciated.



The teenagers discussed about the unique life experiences, war, and daily routine of the military people and got enriched. Generous hospitality was given by the soldiers to the teenagers. The diocesan president Ashvia Anna Lasrado, general secretary Jean Lobo and others were present along with director Fr Rupesh Madtha and coordinator Mervin Vas.

    Very good gesture by YCS/YSM on the eve of Interdependence day. The young generation need to be sensitized on the sacrifices made by our armed forces for our peaceful living. congratulations to all responsible for this noble act
