Mangaluru: Undertrial tries to committ suicide in jail

Mangaluru, Aug 15: In an incident that occurred on Tuesday, at the district prison here, Mukseen (25), an undertrial, tried to kill himself by consuming a large amount of medicine for piles. He is admitted to the Wenlock hospital and is said to be out of danger.

This person, who is accused of theft from houses, stealing cattle and assault on people, was suffering from piles. He was discharged after treatment in the hospital a few days ago for the illness.

During the discharge, the doctor had given him medicine for some more time to cure his illness. He took this medicine in copious amount and started vomiting. The jail staff who noticed him vomiting admitted him to the hospital.
