Bengaluru, Aug 15: In a unique and rare incident a father, who killed his wife, was made to pay for his evil deed in full by his own children.
The high court has upheld the life sentence that was awarded to Dasappa, a resident of Gendegowdana Colony of H D Kote in the district of Mysuru, who had strangulated his wife on the suspicion of having an illicit affair and buried her dead body in the house itself.
High court which verified the testimony given by Dasappa's children considered that as proof enough to conclude that Dasappa had indeed killed his wife Vasantamma. Accordingly, his life sentence that was awarded by the fourth additional and sessions court of Mysuru for family torture, murder and destruction of evidence was upheld by the high court. Now the children have succeeded in making their father rot in prison as he made their mother's body rot by burying it in the house itself.
Dasappa and Vasantamma were married for 28 years. From 2003 the couple was living in rented accommodation in Gendegowdana Colony. Dasappa used to run a tea stall in addition to working as a daily wage labourer. The couple has four children. On Aug 4, 2010, Dasappa had strangulated Vasantamma and buried her body near the oven in the kitchen to avoid any suspicion.
