Bantwal, Aug 10: Robbers burgled a house belonging to a progressive farmer and escaped with valuables after attacking him here in B Mooda village in Madankaup on Wednesday, August 8.
The robbers attacked Janardhana Holla on his head with a knife and escaped with gold chain weighing 3 pounds worth Rs 70,000.
The robbery took place on Wednesday at around 9.30 pm. Holla when opened the door thinking that his son had returned from work, was attacked by two masked men. When Holla's wife who was coming out of bathroom, seeing robbers screamed loudly, making duo leave the spot.
Later Holla's daughter-in-law Shwetha informed the neighbours and the locals. Holla who suffered severe injuries was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
Holla's son Ullas works in Mangaluru. Meanwhile, MLA Rajesh Naik has urged the police superintendent to nab the culprits and take immediate action.
The CCTV camera installed nearby has captured the robbers walking towards Holla's house.
Few locals too have seen the duo while escaping after robbery.
A case has been registered at Bantwal town police station.
