Tumakuru, Aug 8: A man who was overtaken by fear at the sudden demise of his wife, ended his life on Tuesday August 7. This incident happened at Hallikar Street in Turuvekere town in the district.

Umesh, a welder from Turuvekere, had married Meenakshi, daughter of Jayaramayya from Kommanahalli, Kadaba in Gubbi taluk, three months back. Meenakshi, who had stayed with her parents as is customary during the Asaadha month as per Hindu calendar which just passed, had been dropped off at her husband's home a week back by her father.

Meenakshi all of a sudden collapsed in the bathroom and turned very ill. Her husband conveyed this information to his in-laws. She was admitted into hospital immediately but the doctors said she had breathed her last. As soon as he came to know about the death of his wife, Umesh went out and consumed poison.

Umesh's friends immediately took him to the nearby government hospital where preliminary treatment was given. He was then admitted into Adichunchanagiri hospital but his life could not be saved in spite of best efforts of the doctors.

Jayaramayya, father-in-law of Umesh, in a complaint filed with the police personnel of Turuvekere station, said that his daughter was murdered by the family members of Umesh. The police have registered the case and are investigating.
