Kundapur, Aug 8: “Language is not restricted to talk alone. On the contrary, it is an expression of our feelings within us. The culture, cultural tradition and celebrations of a village can be known by making friends with them there. The achievement of Kundapra Kannadigas on international level is vast. It is sad that we have to struggle hard in the changing times to preserve the beauty of the language,” said Vidhan Parishad opposition party leader Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He was speaking as the chief guest in meet and greet programme held at Kundapur mini hall by Namma Kundapra Kannada Balaga Gulf for honoring elected representatives of areas where Kannada language is spoken.
Namma Kundapra Kannada Balaga Kundapur president Sadhanadas chaired the programme.
Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty said that the programme with the love of Kannada language even after going abroad is commendable. “Development is possible when everybody loves the language,” he said.
Byndoor Besuge Foundation president Venkatesh Kini, Deepak Shetty Qatar and Subrahmanya Hebbagilu were on the dais.
Namma Kundrapra Kannada Balaga secretary Sudhaker gave an introductory address. Poor students were handed over scholarships, accident fund amounts and talented students were given laptops by the association on the occasion.
An appeal for starting Kundapur language academy, Byndoor airport and an office of the balaga in taluk panchayat office were handed over on the occasion.
Journalist Arun Kumar Shiroor welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
