Karkala: Elders’ Day celebrated at St Joseph’s Church, Belman

Karkala, Aug 8: Elders’ Day was celebrated at St Joseph’s Church, Belman, on August 5.

More than 260 elders of the parish above the age group of 65 were present for the celebration. Fr Luwis D’Sa parish priest of Mukamar parish celebrated the mass and gave a talk appropriate to the occasion.

A small programme was organised to honour elders and Dr Elroy Saldanha, a well-known faculty from Fr Muller’s Hospital Mangaluru gave some tips at the old age to be followed to avoid some dangers in their life. Fr Edwin D’Souza, parish priest gave the message highlighting the importance of the day. Fr Prakash Menezes, assistant parish priest, religious sisters and members of the parish council were present.

Alwyn Agera, vice president of parish council welcomes the elders and Favostine D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks.

The main sponsor of the programme was Gerald Pinto. The programme was organised by Health Commission and Catholic Sabha of Belman parish. Dominic Andrade compered the programme.
