Moodbidri, Aug 8: “Any freedom is not complete without economic empowerment. Hence, women are in urgent need to attain economic independence to self sustain,” said D Roopa, IGP, Home Guards and Civil Defence, Bengaluru.
She was addressing the gathering on ‘Gender equity and Women empowerment’ organised by Women Development Cell of Alva’s college, at Kuvempu Hall, on Tuesday, August 7.
“Women think herself as secondary bread earner which attitude should be changed. They should earn not as a supportive systems but for their self-sufficiency,” she added.
“Plan your goal at early stage and have focus and strong determination towards it. Choose your career according to your passion. Search for your talent and do what makes you happy.
“Take failures as feedbacks and experiences. Work in right path and don’t hesitate to take decisions. Have courage to face risks and never break down. Develop competence and gain expertise in the field your work,” she advised by mentioning the quotes of Kalam and Abraham Lincoln.
“Self-actualisation is the best way through which one can help us. What we give to society is what we get,” she stated.
In an interaction session, she answered all the queries of the students regarding UPSC exams and its preparations.
Alva’s Education Foundation managing trustee Vivek Alva, principal Dr Kurian, and Women Development Cell coordinator Shazia were present among others.
