Beltangady, Aug 7: ICYM Venur unit celebrated Youth Sunday and Environmental Day at Christ King Church here on August 5.
To mark the occasion, ICYM Venur unit celebrated Youth Sunday by taking up liturgy of that day in the parish. The liturgy was done in very systematic and sacred way by the members of the unit. ICYM Venur celebrated environmental day also to make this day more valuable by joining hands with Catholic Sabha Venur.
Forest officer Venur zone Sunil K recognized the nature love given by the unit every year and appreciated the effort to grow a healthy environment. He also said each organisation must celebrate environmental day so that there will not be any problems to be faced in the future.
In his presidential address, principal of St Anthony College Fr Arun said, “The ICYM members of Mangaluru diocese are very particular about this celebration. Especially, the Venur unit is known for their altruistic works for the society and its development.”
After the stage programme, all joined their hands in planting saplings and the members took the pledge to water it regularly, to grow and take care of Mother Nature.
Treasurer ICYM Unit Venur Ronson Tellis compered the programme, Jovita D’Souza welcomed the gathering and Jenifer Mascarehnas rendered the vote of thanks.
Gram panchayat vice president Arun Crasta, church vice president Ronald D’Souza, church secretary and Catholic Sabha president Steevan D’Cunha, ICYM president Delson Vijay D’Souza, secretary Resham Fernandes, members of ICYM and Catholic Sabha also were present.
