Mangaluru, Aug 7: In an amusing incident, a former member of the railway development committee and also an activist for railway development was fined for travelling without a ticket on a passenger train.
The train that was plying from Kabaka in Puttur to Mangaluru was stopped midway by the ticket checking squad. During the check, the said railway activist did not carry any ticket with him. It is learnt that the person tried to contact the higher officials of the railways, but had to pay the fine as the checking officials were strict and carried out their duty honestly.

The activist who was fined has paid an amount of Rs 265 out of which Rs 250 was the fine and Rs 15 was the actual charge of the journey and also signed the same in the receipt as per the information given by officials of the Mangaluru Central Railway station.
