Udupi: Jogi presented Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Journalism Award

Udupi, Aug 6: “Journalists should assess the haste, dimension, ignorance and opportuneness of news,” said author and journalist Girish Rao Hatwar(Jogi).

He addressed a gathering at Bantara Bhavan, Brahmavar on Sunday August 5 after receiving Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Journalism Award from Brahmavar taluk journalist's association. “Journalists should understand the risks of their profession and try to overcome them. They should try to make their profession more valuable,” he said.

Author Jayant Kaikini said that students of journalism will be outstanding if they develop along with the curriculum of journalism human love, interest in literature and life.

Moodbidri Alva's educational group of institutes president Dr Mohan Alva who earlier inaugurated the programme said that media is the one which is believed by ordinary people. He also said that social concern is the urgent need of today's media.

Brahmavara journalist's association president Chittur Prabhakar Acharya presided over the programme.

State water board executive director Shanadi Ajith Hegde, Udupi district working journalist's association president Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, Hyderabad Suprabhat group of hotels Maranakatte Krishnamoorthi Manja, entrepreneur Suggi Sudhaker Shetty, Brahmavar Bantara Sangha convener Sudarshan Hegde were present. Secretary Rajesh Ganiga Achladi welcomed the gathering.

Programme organizer Vasanth Giliar delivered the keynote address. Journalist Mohan Udupa thanked the gathering. Chandrashekar Beejady compered the programme. Rajarudra Kopa Yakshagana directed by Kota Suresh Bangera was performed at the end of the programme.
