Bengaluru: Deve Gowda wishes Karunanidhi lives to cross century

Bengaluru, Aug 3: JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda visited ailing DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, who is under treatment at a private hospital in Chennai, on Friday, August 3.

“I came here to pray almighty and to see that the health of (M Karunanidhi) should improve by the grace of god and he should cross century,’’ Deve Gowda said.

The JD(S) national president said he (Karunanidhi) is a senior most leader. He was responsible to the coalition government of Atal Behari Vajpayee, Dr Manmohan Singh and also during my period, he said.

“He is a strongest person and he supported many coalition government’s at the national level and his service cannot be forgotten not only in Tamil Nadu but at the national level also,’’ Deve Gowda said.

The former Prime Minister said Karunanidhi’s son M K Stalin took him inside the hospital and he was able to see him from a distance. Doctors have advised that infection may affect his health. So I was allowed to enter the room but not near him. I pray for his health and speedy recovery,’’ he added.
