Udupi: Girish Rao Hatwar to be presented Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Journalism Award on Aug 5

Udupi, Aug 3: Contemporary writer and editor of Kannada Prabha (supplement) famed Girish Rao Hatwar fondly known as Jogi has been chosen for Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Journalism Award, instituted by Brahmavar taluk Journalists’ Association informed president Chittur Prabhakar Acharya on Wednesday, August 2 at a press meet here.

The award presentation programme will be held on Sunday August 5 at Bunts Bhavan Brahmavar. There will be an interactive discussion on the topic ‘Politics-Law- Journalism’. Former fighter, justice and journalist Sudhir Kumar Murolli, former MLA YSV Datta and businessman Suresh Shetty Gurme will share the platform.

Dr Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva's group of institutions will inauguarate the programme. Eminent writer Jayanth Kaykini will present the award.

Anand C Kundar, proprietor of Geethanand Trust, Halady Srinivas Shetty, Kundapur MLA, Maranakatte Krishnamurthy Manja, businessman and proprietor of M S Manja Charitable Trust, Shanady Ajithkumar Hegde, CEO, Karnataka State Cool drink Ltd, Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, president, District Working Journalists’ Association Udupi, Suggi Sudhakar Shetty, businessman, Sudhakar Hedge, convener of Bunts Union will be present.

A yakshagana play ‘Veera Abhimanyu’ will be performed by Udupi press club members directed by Bannanje Sanjeeva Suvarna at 4 pm the same day and ‘Rajarudrakopa’, coordinated by Kota Suresh Bangera at 6.30 pm.

Journalism students will participate in the occasion.

Rajesh Achlady, general secretary, Mohan Udupa treasurer, Ganesh Saibrakatte, Vasanth Giliyar, convener of the programme were present.
