Mangaluru, Aug 2: ‘Yuva Parzal’ was held recently jointly by Catholic Sabha and ICYM Neermarga. Fr Anil D’Mello, parish priest of Neermarga parish played a pivotal role in organizing ‘the same. The gleaming day began with the Holy Eucharist.
The event commenced with a prayer song. The event was inaugurated in a unique way by the dignitaries. The stage programme was presided by Fr Anil D Mello. Fr Thomas D’Souza, archbishop of Calcutta was the chief guest. Richard D’Souza, the president of Catholic Sabha and Sapna Gonsalves, president of ICYM were also present. The archbishop in his address to the youth explicated the secret of true success, is to fix a goal and in order to reach the goal one should climb the ladder comprising of four rungs: The first is determination, the second is dedication, the third is discipline and the fourth is attitude.
Fr Anil, in his presidential address, expressed his gratitude to the 126 youth who had assembled with fervour. Through life situations, anecdotes he stressed the importance of maintaining contact with God. Richard D’Souza issued message of thanks.
The inaugural programme was followed by a session most efficiently conducted by Fr Arun Lobo. He enlightened the youth on the effect of pornography and also elicited from them the challenges they face in life. He subsequently gave them the explanation of the ways and means to face the challenges. It was indeed thought provoking. The talk was followed by group discussion. Fr Arun Lobo was introduced to the gathering by Ravi Saldhana and Pawan rendered the vote of thanks.
Norbert Misquith was the resource person for the afternoon. He conducted a session on various ice- breaking activities and thereafter elucidated the ways of reaching the goal following the 9 to 1 formula. Cynthia Renjal introduced the speaker.
On the whole, the talks, games and activities were educational, edifying and full of fun.
