Mangalore, Oct 9: Opposing the union government's decision to sign the nuclear deal, the activists of Popular Front of India (PFI) held a protest in front of the office of the deputy commissioner(DC), on Tuesday Oct 7 in the city.
Addressing the protestors, member of PFI State unit Anwar Sadath criticized the central government for mortgaging the country's interests to United States of America. "Without respecting the opinions and feelings of the people, the UPA government is compromising the country's sovereignity. The people should be in readiness to teach the UPA a fitting lesson in the coming elections," he said.
A petition opposing the N -Deal, addressed to the prime minister, was submitted to the DC. Member of PFI state unit Abdul Razack, district unit president Abdul Aziz, member Mohammad Kakkinje and Rahiuddin Kudroli of New Age India Forum were present.
