Tokyo, Jul 25 (IANS): Japanese major Nikon on Wednesday announced the development of a next-generation full-frame mirrorless camera and a new lens under its own lens-brand NIKKOR, featuring a new mount that will enable a new dimension in optical performance.
"Through the development of this new mirrorless camera, Nikon reaffirms our commitment to providing photographers with the ability to capture images that are richer and more vivid than ever before," the company wrote in a blog post.
Nikon is also developing an adapter for F-Mount SLR lenses with the new camera.
"Nikon will continue to lead imaging innovation with the launch of the new mirrorless camera and the continued development of Nikon Digital-SLR cameras as well as the impressive NIKKOR lens lineup," the post added.
The details about the new releases including launch dates and suggested retail prices will be shared at a later date, it said.
"Nikon 1" that was launched in 2011 was the company's first line of mirrorless cameras and was last updated with "J5" in 2015.
