Mangalore, Oct 8: A special excise squad, headed by deputy superintendent of police Papaiah, arrested three people on Tuesday October 7 and recovered from them 90 bottles of liquor manufactured in Goa.
The arrested have been identified as Abbas, Anwar, and Khaleel. They were waiting for a bus in front of Omega Hospital near Pumpwell circle, with the bottles in three bags.
Acting on a sure tip-off, police took them into custody and interrogated them revealing the thriving inter-state illegal liquor racket. The liquor, and two mobile phones seized by the police, have been valued at around Rs 21,000.
Special squad police officers Sanjeev Purusha, Deepak, Nagaraj, Jayaram, Shareef, Umesh, Narayan, Sundar Raj, and Urban Pinto, participated in the operation.
