Mangalore, Oct 8: ‘INDUS-EM 2008’ the fourth Indo-US Emergency Medicine Summit, a level one international academic meeting dedicated to trauma, emergency, and disaster medicine, will be held at A J Hospital from Friday October 10 to Sunday October 12.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday October 7, at Patrika Bhavan, Dr Sudhesh S Rao, secretary general, INDUS-EM 2008, said it is India’s only level one conference imparting and exchanging quality knowledge in acute care. The leading partners for the summit are the divisions of emergency medicine and trauma at the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida, USA, and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
The theme for the summit is ‘Rescue, Resuscitation, and Research’. This is the fourth year of INDUS-EM after its past successes. It promises a series of exchanges in academic development and implementation of training tools related to developing future academic faculty and residents in emergency medicine in India, added Dr Rao.
He said a conference of this magnitude is being held for the first time in South India. Directors who had participated in emergency services after the attack on the World Trade Centre will also be part of the conference. India has a shortage of emergency handling experts. This conference will help our doctors train in this field, he added.
Dr Prasanth Marla, medical director, A J Hospital and research centre, Dr Santhosh Soans, and Dr Shivaprasad Shetty, were present.
