Bangalore, Oct 7: The BJP on Monday October 6, posed a challenge to the union government to put its warnings into practice and dismiss the state government, if it sincerely feels that the law and order situation in the state is that bad.
Speaking at a press conference, state BJP spokesperson Dhananjay Kumar accused the centre of adopting double standards and continuing to caution the state, in spite of the fact that the state government had brought the situation under control within two days. "Let the central government dismiss the state government. We will fight it out in the court. The citizens of the state will teach them a lesson," he announced. Kumar also suspected that behind-the-scene efforts are being made by vested interests to topple the state government and asserted, his party will strongly resist such moves by raising the matter in the parliament.
On the issue of the proposal to ban Bajrang Dal, Dhananjay Kumar said that the Dal is a nationalist party, and only anti-national organizations should be banned. Reacting to threats posed by Veerappa Moily that the union government was actively considering the issue of banning Bajrang Dal, he retorted by saying that Moily does not hold any important position in the union government and that he was not in any way authorized to make such statements.
The other spokesperson C T Ravi too came down heavily on the centre for meting out step-motherly treatment to states ruled by the BJP. He pointed out that the centre had not bothered to send any fact-finding team to Assam although communal violence has been raging there since long and more than 29 lives were lost in that state. "As soon as some stray incidents occurred here, teams started landing in Mangalore, which shows the partisan designs of the centre," Ravi said.
