Udupi, Oct 7: ‘Samskritika Sourab ‘08’, a two-day inter-collegiate singing contest was inaugurated at Town Hall on Monday October 6. The competition was jointly organized by the directorate of students’ welfare of Mangalore University, and Government First Grade Women’s College, Ajjarkad.
Prof M N Hegde, principal, Kaup Government First Grade College, said after inaugurating the event that graduation had become a competitive field today. He said that it was essential for students to involve themselves equally both in studies and extra-curricular activities. Students should shun their inferiority complex in order to be competitive, he added.
H Chandrashekar Kedlaya, state excellent teacher awardee, who was the chief guest, released the college bulletin ‘Kalasha’. MLA Raghupathy Bhat presided over the programme.
College principal Bhavani, and Sridar G Bhat, editor of ‘Kalasha’, were present on the dais. Ramachandra Adiga welcomed the gathering. Cultural committee convener Ramaraya Acharya proposed the vote of thanks.
