Mumbai, Oct 6: The Bombay Catholic Sabha (BCS) on Saturday October 4, urged the union government to impose President’s rule in Orissa, following the delay in prosecuting the accused in the rape of a nun in communally-sensitive Khandamal district of the state.
BCS said in a press release that the law enforcement agencies had completely failed to safeguard the life and property of minorities. The Sabha expressed shock that the Orissa police had not picked up the nun’s medical report more than a month after the rape.
The Sabha said that the situation in the troubled state was worsening, with mass attacks on Christians and their households. The Sabha also demanded sacking of the police officers who had failed in their duties and demanded immediate action against them without any more delay, as stated in their press release.
