Mumbai, Oct 4: Kumar Bangera, well-known businessman and managing director of ‘Mumbai News’, was unanimously-elected the first honorary president of the Thiya Samaj, Mumbai at the 64th annual general body meeting of the organization held under the presidentship of K P Arvind recently at Matunga Karnataka Sangh’s mini hall. Chandrashekar B was elected new president of the Samaj.
The meeting started after the celebration of the 154th anniversary of Sri Narayana Guru Swami. Treasurer of the Samaj Ramesh Ullal, presented the accounts and the budget. Sudhakar Uchil was re-elected chairman of the western Mumbai local committee while Roopesh Y Rao will continue as chairman of the youth wing and and Seeta Salian will remain chairperson of the ladies wing of the same committee.
During the meeting, a central Mumbai local committee was formed with Ravi S Manjeshwar as chairman. Scholarships and meritorious awards were given to deserving students of the community. The student achievers were felicitated with a silver coin, mementos, and cash. The mementos were sponsored by Shridhar Suvarna, while cash prizes were sponsored by Kumar Bangera and Kasturi Bangera. Some other Samaj members were also felicitated on the occasion.
