Dubai: World Tulu conference holds preliminary meet

Dubai, Jul 13: “The first meeting of the World Tulu conference will be held at Al Nasr Leisure Land Ice Rink indoor stadium in the city on Friday November 23 and Saturday November 24,” announced chief organizer Sarvotham Shetty.

The preliminary meeting of the advisory committee of the conference was held at Dubai Burj Khalifa Residences Multifunction hall on Friday evening June 29. It was chaired by chief coordinator of Tuluvas across the seas, Sarvotham Shetty. B K Ganesh Rai, Shodhan Prasad, Devkumar Kambli, Alwyn Pinto, Ajmal, Sathish Poojary, Yogesh Prabhu, Suvarna Sathish, Jyothika Harsha Shetty, Smitha Prasanna and Shashi Raviraj Shetty took part in the meeting.



“The Tulu conference will be held under the aegis of Tulu people in the Gulf, Akhila Bharatha Tulu Okkoota and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy. Padma Vibhushan Dr D Veerendra Heggade will arrive as chief guest. Founder of Abu Dhabi N M C group of organizations and chairman Padmashree Dr B R Shetty will preside over the conference.”

“Bishop of Mangaluru, Muslim preachers and the elite will arrive from Karnataka as guests of honour. A Tulu Janapada dance competition will be held on the occasion. Janapada dance troupes from Muscat, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and UAE are expected to take part in it. A special souvenir of tulu conference will be released.”

Tulu Maddale, Yakshagana plays, Tulu Rasa Manjari, Tulu literary discussion, Tulu Kode Ini Elle (Tulu yesterday, today and tomorrow), Daivaradhane and Bhootharadhane, Tulu medium meeting, Tulu laughter evening, reading of tulu poetry, tulu jokes and meeting of tulu actors will be held. Several littérateurs from the homeland will arrive,” said Sarvotham Shetty at a news release.
