Moodbidri: Courts Now Award Speedy Justice—Judge Shivalinge Gowda

Moodbidri, Oct 2: Courts nowadays are awarding speedy justice. People should shed the notion that courts are taking longer to award justice, said Dakshina Kannada (DK) district chief civil Judge K L Shivalinge Gowda, recently.
He was speaking at the inaugural of the legal information camp held at Belvai Co-operative Agriculture (CA) Bank auditorium.The event was jointly organized by DK district legal services authority, city bar association, and Belvai C A Bank.
District legal services authority has been providing free legal aid to those with annual income below Rs 25,000 at the taluk-level and this must be utilized to the optimum, opined the judge.
JMFC and civil (lower division) Judge Panchakshari, said that plaintiffs seek justice from the court to take revenge. Therefore, it’s the plaintiffs who have to decide what they gain out of such struggles.
District legal services authority member Gopal Kadumata said that although oppressed tribes are empowered with separate laws, it seems that they are ill-using it. City bar association president Bahubali Prasad elaborated on the importance of legal awareness.
Senior lawyer M S Kotian spoke on criminal law, while K R Pandit spoke on property rights for women, and Praveen Lobo talked about family abuse of women.
C A Bank chairman B Jayaraj was the chief guest of the occasion.
Lawyer Shantiprasad Hegde welcomed the gathering while Abdullah Ismail compered the programme.
