Mangalore: Eid Banner Set on Fire Near Town Hall Causes Some Tense Moments

Mangalore, Sep 30: A banner with Eid-Ul-Fitr wishes put up near near Town Hall, was burnt on the night of Sunday September 29 by unknown persons. The banner was put up by an organization called 'Voice of Peace-Kudroli'.
According to sources the incident occurred around 11 pm. Locals doused the fire as soon as they noticed it. Some activists of the organization gathered at the spot after learning of the incident. Police, and leaders of the organization were able to convince them to maintain peace and a complaint was lodged at Pandeshwar police station.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Ashraf Kinara, president, Voice of People-Kudroli said, 'This is a heinous act by anti-social elements. The miscreants came by on four motorbikes and later entered Mahalingleshwara Temple premises at Pandeshwar after being chased by our activists late in the night. We will submit a memorandum to the DC and SP the day after Eid-Ul-Fitr, in a peaceful manner.'
He said police had promised to arrest the miscreants as soon as possible.
