Kundapur, Sep 29: Assistant director of the Goa department of art and culture, Ashok Parab said, that art and culture of Goa state have regularly been identifying and contributing new talents to the musical world since long. The department has taken up an important project under which, added impetus will be given to the preservation of our traditions and culture, he added.
He was speaking after ianugurating the classical music festival organised by artistes from Goa on Sunday September 28 here, under the joint aegis of Sangeeta Bharati Trust and Goa art and culture department.
Sangeeta Bharati Trust president Sridhar Kamat presided. Writer Ko Shi Karant, who was the chief guest, noted that the musical world is now faced with the need to independently grow on its own, as the dramas have stopped encouraging this art in the recent times.
Vaikunt Hebbar, Avinash Hebbar and Narayan representing Sangeeta Bharati Trust were present.
Artistes Vijay Dhamaskar, Dattaraja Sarlikar, Arati nayak, Gajanan Amonkar, Damodar Pandurang Hede, Nitin Dhavlikar, Yogaraj Nayak, Tulasidas Navelkar, Sandeep Nagvekar, Mayuresh Vatsa etc., particiated as chief guests.
Sridhar Kamat welcomed. Navilur Prakash conducted the programme and proposed vote of thanks. Later, various artistes performed classical concerts.
