Udupi, Sep 25: Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) clarified at the High Court on Wednesday September 24 that the board will disburse additional compensation to some of the displaced farmers, who lost their lands for the setting up of Nagarjuna Power Project.
KIADB commissioner Sham Bhat who appeared at the hearing of the petitions filed by owners of 195 acres of agricultural lands measuring 195 acres located near Padubidri, said that the board is prepared to pay higher compensation to these farmers.
Justice Abdul Nazeer had called for clarifications from the KIADB. The commissioner, who was present at the hearing, said that the board would be able to disburse the differential compensation if the farmers concerned submit fresh applications for the same, and requested the court to agree for this condition.
The High Court concurred with the request of the KIADB commissioner, and directed the farmers to prefer fresh applications to the KIADB to claim additional compensation for their lands.
