Mangaluru, Jun 26: Director Abhaya Simha’s Tulu film, ‘Paddayi’ is all set to release on July 13.
The film was adjudged the ‘Best Regional Film’ at the 65th national film awards. It was also screened at various film festivals across the world including New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) in May.
The film stars Mohan Shenoy, Bindu Rakshidhi, Chandrahas Ulla, Gopinath Bhat, Avinash Rai, Sadashiv N Rai Ninasam, Shrinidhi Achar, Prabhakar Kapikad, Vani Peruvodi, Ravi Bhat, Mallika and others. The film is based on William Shakespeare’s novel ‘Macbeth’. The backdrop of the film is based on the fishing community.
‘Paddayi’ was shot across Udupi, Malpe, and Padukere. There is Mogaveera-accent Tulu spoken in almost 90 per cent of the film. Sync-sound technology has been used for the first time ever in Coastalwood.
Screen play was handled by Abhaya Simha himself. S Nithyananda Pai has produced the film. Music is composed by Manikanth Kadri. Rakshith karanth is the associate director and editing was handled by Prashanth Pandith.
Abhaya Simha is well known for his national award winning children’s Kannada film ‘Gubbachigalu’. He also brought Malayalam superstar Mamooty in Shikari, a Kannada-Malayalam bilingual film. His third film was Kannada film ‘Sakkare’ starring Ganesh.
