Mangalore, Sep 25: Refuting the statements issued by the BJP leaders accusing the Congress of engineering the attacks on churches for harming the reputation of the BJP as part its 'Operation Hand' announced by Veerappa Moily some time back, Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee(DCC) said that the attacks were the result of factionalism within the BJP.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson M G Hegde and DCC general secretary P V Mohan, speaking to press persons on Tuesday September 23 said, that the mastermind behind the attacks was in fact, BJP MP Anant Kumar from Bangalore. Hence, it would be apt to describe the attacks as 'Operation Anant', they ridiculed.
They said, that Anant Kumar wants to destabilize the state government headed by B S Yeddyurappa, as he is not in good terms with the present chief minister. Anant Kumar has not reacted to the disturbances, they pointed out.
"Anant Kumar wants to become the state chief miniser by sidelining Yeddyurappa. Bajrang Dal does not have the authority to claim to be the sole protectors of Hinduism. Bajrang Dal is a small group of miscreants assisting the BJP to get political mileage. For this purpose they keep igniting communal passions," they described.
Hegde noted, that th Bajrang Dal and BJP refer to Hintuva as a way of life and not as a religion. Is using religious passions and destroying lives and property belonging to minorities the essence of Hindutva?, he questioned. Hegde claimed, that the Congress was backed by a large number of Hindus, and that they were the real Hindus. He advised the Bajrang Dal activists to work towards eradicating social evils plaguing Hinduism, instead of indulging in vandalism.
He also stressed, that the Congress does not need the preachings of former Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar and BJP state Yuvamorcha president Girish Mattennavar on moral values. The state government should wath the movement of these leaders, he advised.
