Udupi, Sep 24: The district police received an anonymous call at 2.30 pm on Wednesday September 24, that a bomb had been planted on the campus of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT).
The sniffer dog squad rushed to the spot while policemen cleared the campus of students. A thorough search of the premises by hundreds of policemen yielded no explosives.
Praveen Madhukar Pavar, superintendent of police, and Nagaraj, deputy superintendent of police, oversaw the search.
The police were unwilling to take chances in the wake of the recent serial blasts in New Delhi and the revelation of a local connection to those attacks.
