Udupi, Jun 14: Ichitartha Shetty, president of Kundapur Youth Congress Committee here on Wednesday requested the government to give Udupi district in-charge ministership to senior Congress leader MLC Prathapchandra Shetty.

Addressing a press meet at Udupi press club here on June 13, Ichitartha said, “Prathapchandra Shetty is a senior loyal leader of Congress and he is known for clean politics. He served as member of Assembly for four years; he has experience as MLC for three terms. He did not lobby for getting any post in his political journey. He did not get any post in Commission Board or any profitable post during his period as MLA.”

“He always stood as a supportive hand with former Udupi district in-charge minister. He has maintained good relation with party workers of Udupi and Mangaluru. He also worked on behalf of them. In addition to this, Prathapchandra Shetty comes from a strong community. If he becomes the district in-charge minister of Udupi, the Congress workers will get more enthusiasm to work for the party.”

Ichitartha Shetty further said, “He is a secular leader. He is in contact with people of the district and he is aware of their problem.”

“BJP won five seats in Udupi because of money power. We have no money to spend during elections. He gave up ministership post to young leader during Congress government. If the government gives a chance by offering him ministership, Congress will come back to power. Prathapchandra Shetty is willing to receive the post,” Ichitartha Shetty said.

Ramesh Shetty, Nataraj Ballal, Santhap Shetty and Vijay Poojary were present.
