Bengaluru: Vice chancellors for RGUHS, BU, Law University, appointed

Bengaluru, Jun 13: Through orders issued on Tuesday, June 12, Karnataka governor, Vajubhai Vala, appointed vice chancellors to Bangalore University, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), and Karnataka State Law University.

Retired principal of University Visveshvaraya College of Engineering, Prof K R Venugopal, has been made vice chancellor of Bangalore University. Karnataka director of medical education, Dr Sachidanand, has been appointed as the vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciennces. Prof Eshwar Bhat has been made vice chancellor of Karnataka Law University based in Hubballi.

The post of the vice chancellor of Bangalore Univeristy had remained vacant since Februrary 2017 when its previous incumbent, Dr B Thimme Gowda got retired. Thereafter, several ad hoc vice chancellors have functioned.       

RGUHS was without its administrative head since July 2017 when Dr K S Raveendranath retired. Registrar (valuation), Dr M K Ramesh, was acting as vice chancellor thereafter.

While Venugopal took over responsibility on Tuesday itself, Dr Sachidananda, it is gathered, will take over the reigns of RGUHS once he is released from the post of director of medical education.
