Mangalore, Sep 19: The newly-built Soundarya Palace, a complex with facilities for boarding and lodging, a vegetarian restaurant, conference hall and other amenities, located near Sri Durgaparameshwari temple, Kateel, was inaugurated here recently by Sri Vishwaprasannateerta Swami of Pejavar Math, Udupi.
The building comes as succour to many devotees who visit the historically famous temple and had to find accommodation in the city. It offers all facilities to pilgrims, ranging from air-conditioned rooms, spacious parking, and children's play area to elevators, laundry, and locker service, besides a shopping complex.
Swami Vishwaprasannateerta, speaking on the occasion said that Indians lead a life based on spirituality. Any project destined by God will be realized. Swami Ramanand of Kolya Math felicitated Soundarya Ramesh, proprietor of Soundarya Palace, his mother Sitamma, Devika Rani, and Varija.
Soundarya Ramesh who was born in a poor family at Kolya, succeeded in his life with the grace of God, honesty, hard work, and regard for religious leaders, said Swami Ramanand. Swami Mohandas of Sri Dhama Manila Math, Bantwal, commended the proprietor of Soundarya Palace on his concern for pilgrims’ comfort at Kateel temple. Sridar Pulli, senior marketing officer, HPCL (Bangalore), inaugurated the gymnasium.
MLA Abhayachandra Jain, Bantara Yane Nadawara Matra Sangh district president K Amarnat Shetty, Bangalore Ambika Nursing School director Dr M N R Gowda, and Dr Gayatri were the chief guests present on the occasion. Journalist Narendra Kerekad welcomed the gathering. Artist V G Pal delivered the keynote address. Artiste Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli and Raghavendra compered the programme.
Earlier, Sri Durgaparameshwari temple trustees Anantapadmanabha Asranna and Kamaladevi Prasad Asranna, participated in the religious rites performed by Shibaroor Vedavyas Tantri. The Swamijis were taken to Soundarya Palace in a grand procession, after their arrival at the temple.
