Doha, Jun 9: Alliance B defeated Serandib B by 26 runs in the Division II finals of the 24th Gulf Incon Metabo Ramadan Cricket Tournament 2018 to lift the winners’ trophy.
On winning the toss, Serandib B asked Alliance B to bat first. Alliance B lost their top four batsmen Sandesh, Riyaz, Pankaj and Kasim within the first four overs. Bandula then came in to act and took two wickets in the fifth over. Alliance B reeled at 37 for loss of six wickets at the end of the fifth over.
Amol led the recovery for Alliance B from the sixth Over and scored 30 runs in 10 balls with three sixes and two fours. The remaining Alliance B batsmen (Rashid, Rafiq and Azeez) all contributed with scores of 14 runs. Alliance B scored 90 runs in the last seven overs and finally scored 127 for loss of ten wickets in their allotted 12 overs.
Bandula of Serandib B took three wickets for 17 runs and Nuwan got two wickets for nine runs in their allotted two overs. Indika and Tharindu took a wicket each. In reply, Serandib B started with a bang and scored 30 runs at the end of 3 mandatory power play overs losing only one wicket. Thereafter bowlers of Alliance B bowled economically and never allowed Serandib B batsmen to score freely. Run rate started increasing and Serandib B started losing wickets to end up with 101 runs for loss of six wickets in their allotted 12 overs. Priyantha, Serandib B opening batsman top scored with 17 runs in 12 balls with two fours. Tharanga and Milan contributed by scoring 16 runs each.
Rashid of Alliance B took two wickets for 19 runs. Jashmeer, Amol and Saleem contributed to Alliance B victory by taking a wicket each.
For his all-round performance, Amol from Alliance B was declared Man of the Finals.

At the prize distribution ceremony, Sajjad Ahmed Khan- senior sales and marketing manager - Gulf Incon was present along with Rajkumar Selvarajan – credit / inventory controller, Vincent Wimaldas - product manager – Tools & Equipment and Tuan Afaham Burah – METABO field specialist and Qatar Veterans Cricket officials handed over the winners' and runners' trophies plus individual prizes. Complimentary lucky draw and refreshments were arranged for all the spectators.
