Bengaluru, June 8: International passengers arriving at Kempegowda International Airport Ltd in the city will now be able to buy local SIM cards at the arrivals zone adjacent to the baggage claim area.
The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), operators of the BLR Airport, introduced the concept to attend to the pressing need of international passengers to get a SIM card immediately upon arrival while also providing domestic passengers multiple SIM card options with prompt activation.
CXSOL (CX Solutions) will issue SIM cards of various service providers including Vodafone, Jio and Airtel.
Activation officers will be stationed at the counter to activate connection within 30 minutes of issue. Apart from SIM cards, the firm will offer WiFi dongles and other accessories.
"Bengaluru is the IT capital of India and it is our responsibility to offer our guests technology services. The mobile connectivity outlet is an addition to several premium services we already offer at the BLR Airport that enhance passenger experience,” said Javed Malik, chief operating officer, BIAL.
In an effort to enhance the experience of passengers travelling with young children, BIAL has also introduced a baby stroller service inside the terminal building.
This facility, managed by First Cry – Asia’s largest online portal for baby products – will ensure hassle-free passage for parents travelling with infants.
Trained staff will issue the baby strollers with a simple, digitised process and also collect the strollers from the boarding gates and bring them back to their nesting zones.
"Travelling with infants can be a challenge – this is one more offering that will make journeys less stressful and enhance our reputation as a family-friendly airport,” Javed Malik said.
BIAL is currently the busiest airport in South India and the third largest in the country and has been adjudged the ‘Best Regional Airport in India and Central Asia’ by Skytrax in 2017 and 2018.
