Udupi, Jun 7: “Konandur’s Dr Arun Hosakoppa is contesting as an independent candidate in the South West Teachers' constituency election. He is well aware of problems of teachers. He has served as teacher for five years. All voters should support him to assure him victory,” said actor and stage artiste Tennis Krishna.
Addressing media at Udupi press club here on Wednesday, June 6, “Dr Hosakoppa is a social worker. I am campaigning on behalf of him. Here, I am not judging any party, but supporting the candidate. Another candidate Arun Kumar is contesting the Graduates' constituency. We have finished two days of election campaigning in Shivamogga.”
Answering media queries on his thoughts on Yakshagana, Tennis Krishna said, “I am a big fan of Chittani. I was influenced by his unique style of Yakshagana. I used to goose bumps seeing him perform on stage. There is need to cultivate the rich heritage and culture and preserve them.
“Emerging artistes and technicians should come in more numbers to film industry to develop the Yakshagana industry. There are many theatre artistes working in the film industry.
“I am directing 'Tennis Come Back Show' on small screen,” he said.
Thanking Dr Rajkumar and Vishnuvardhan, he said that they had supported and helped him a lot during his financial crisis. “I am indebted to them,” he said.
Karnataka Legislative Council election for Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies will be held on June 8.
