Mangaluru, Jun 5: Fr William Menezes took charge as parish priest of Guardian Angels Church, Angelore on Monday, June 4.
Fr Mathew Vas, the current parish priest, and Roshan Patrao, vice-president, parish council welcomed Fr William with flower bouquets.
Fr Henry Mascarenhas, chancellor of Mangaluru diocese, led the charge taking ceremony.
After taking charge as the parish priest, Fr William said, “I am overwhelmed by the reception given to me by the parishioners. When I entered the church compound, I felt a positive spirit and joyful atmosphere around me. I feel that Fr Mathew Vas has been an inspiration for all of you. The love you showered on him itself proves how you respect our priests and religious. As a servant of God, it is my duty to serve his people.”
Welcoming the new parish priest Fr Mathew Vas said, "I experienced the greatness and love of the parishioners of Angelore. Being a God fearing community, they always worked hard for their parish. The unity and coordination is the main strength of Angelore parish. So definitely, Fr William will like this place. Meanwhile, Angelore parishioners are lucky to get a priest like Fr William. Being a multi- talented, soft spoken and trouble shooter, he has always been close to people.”
Fr Walter D’Mello, judicial vicar, Mangaluru diocese, Fr Vijay Victor, procurator of diocese and a large number of parishioners were present.
